HOMEWORK POLICY
Homework is a very important link between the school and the home. It helps to keep parents in touch and involved in their children’s work. Homework should be a revision and consolidation of work done in school. Where homework is taking excessive time or distress, parents should contact the class teacher.
- It is important for the child to establish a set routine and time each day for doing homework away from distraction
- Parents should check and sign the homework journal each evening.
- Reading is a very important part of homework. Parents should also spend time reading to their child each evening.
- Homework will not be issued to children who are absent through illness or on holidays.
- Homework will be issued from Monday to Thursday. No homework is issued on Friday’s.
- Homework will not be given to children on their birthdays.
- Three homework free weeks will occur during the school year.
- For the last week of each term no written homework will be issued.
Below is a guide to the average length of time a child should be spending at homework. Please contact the class teacher if your child’s homework is exceeding this time
