Newsletter September 5th

Newsletter September 5th 2022

We have had a very successful return to school. Our Junior Infants have settled in very well and will continue to go home from school each day at 12 noon until Friday week, September 16th. They should be dropped each morning at the outside doors and will be collected by their teacher. From Monday September 19th they will go home at 1.40pm.

We would like to welcome Carrie Lidierth and Rónan Byrne to the staff for the coming year. Rónan will teach 6th class and Carrie will join our SET team.

Our healthy eating policy is available on the school website and a hard copy will be issued to each family this week. We would appeal to all parents/guardians to adhere to the policy in the interest of all children.

A calendar for the school year is available on the school website, under the newsletters tab.

We would respectfully ask that birthday invitations are not given out in school as it can lead to confusion and upset for some children.

We would ask all parents/guardians to ensure that their children’s names are on all items of clothing (jumpers, tops etc.)

There will be U11 boys football training on Tuesday after school from 2.50 – 3.30. Children must be born in 2011, 2012 or 2013

Music Generation lessons in flute/tin whistle, piano and guitar resume next week. A note /email will be issued to all those taking part with information on the day and time of the lessons. These lessons cost €210.

Basketball coaching, Speech and Drama lessons and vocal programme begin during this week and next week. These lessons must be paid for in advance. The cost is part of the fee schedule issued in June.

Gaelic football coaching with Conor Byrne will start for some classes this Monday.

An updated Homework Policy will be sent home next week. It will include rough guideline times for homework for each class. One of the most important aspects of home work is reading. Apart from children reading it is very important that parents read to children each day. It helps develop imagination and vocabulary and strengthens the bond between parent and child.

We would plead with all parents and children not to enter or leave the school at any time through either school car park. Parents are asked not to park in staff car parks or in the bus bay outside the school.

Parents who need to accompany their children into the school grounds can do so but should stay at the front of the school. We would encourage older children to walk, cycle or scoot to school. Children should bring a light rain jacket to school every day as we will make every effort to go out at breaktimes regardless of weather conditions.

All school fee payments should be paid in an envelope with the child’s name written on the outside and an indication of what the fees are covering also written on the outside of the envelope. Receipts will be issued for all payments. Payment can also be made online at the following BIC and IBAN. Please reference your child’s name if you are paying by this method.
