NEWSLETTER – Monday 16th September 2019

Our Junior Infant class have settled in very well to school and from today onwards will go home at 1.40pm.

Confirmation next year will take place on Thursday May 14th at 11am.

Due to new Child Protection guidelines any parents who will either be in the school helping with reading in junior classes or who will be driving children to matches must be vetted through the school. We would be very grateful if any parents who are intending or willing to help out as detailed above could complete and return the vetting form that was sent to all families today.

Over the next 6 weeks all classes will be making a special effort with oral Irish. A sheet of typical basic conversation as Gaeilge is being sent home today. We would be grateful, where possible, if you could go over some of these phrases with your child.

Music Generation flute/tin whistle lessons commence on Monday next September 23rd with James Mahon. Tod Doyle will take children for guitar lessons each Wednesday and Fiona Melady will teach piano every Thursday. All lessons are during school hours. Brass lessons will take place each week.

Music Generation Vocal Teacher, Leslie Dowdall, is back this week also and will take all clases from 2nd to 6th.

Speech and Drama teacher Kathleen Lambe starts back this week and will take 1st, 2nd 3rd, 4th and Solas classes.

Biodiversity expert, Patrick Hunt, is here this week to work with classes. He will be paid through the Parents Association contribution. He will take 3rd, 4th and 6th classes stream dipping on Wednesday. Children in these classes must have wellington boots for this trip. He will work with Junior Infants to 2nd class on Friday.

Congratulations to Lindsey Quinlan and her husband Brian, on the birth of their baby girl Carrie last week.

Please find a copy of our Homework Policy on the back of this newsletter. Homework is a revision of work done in school. If a child is struggling with the homework please contact the class teacher.
