NEWSLETTER – Monday 25th November 2019

The Parents Association meet this Wednesday November 27th at 7.30pm in the school. We would welcome some new parents to come on board and have their say and input into the running of our school.

A digital survey will be sent home with each child today and we would be grateful if the forms could be completed and returned by this coming Friday November 29th. This is a confidential summary as we are assessing the need for internet safety information for children and parents. We would appeal for honesty in your answers.

3rd and 4th classes will take part in a Tug of War blitz in St. Kevin’s Community College tomorrow. Children should wear their school tracksuit.

To coincide with the school Book Fair we will not be issuing any written homework this week.

Many thanks to Michael Moran and the 6th class children for looking after the Book Fair. Books are available to buy at school opening and closing times. Children will also have an opportunity to purchase books during the school day. The school will receive 60% of the value of books sold which we use to restock the school library and class libraries. Many thanks for your support of this event.

Hilda Milner from the Royal Irish Academy of Music will visit the school on Monday next December 2nd to work with our ensemble. This is the first of three workshops in preparation for our concert in the National Concert Hall in March.

Applications for enrolment to St. Kevin’s Community College for the next school year are being accepted up to Friday next November 29th. Any applications received after that date will not be guaranteed a place in the school. A number of children from our 6th class have yet to hand in their application and parents should make sure to have the forms in this week if they plan on sending their child to the school.

Dunlavin Christmas Fair takes place in the Imaal Hall on Sunday next December 1st from 10am-4pm. There will be a variety of local art, crafts, food produce and gifts on offer. Santa will arrive at 12.45pm.

The annual switch on of the town lights will take place on Saturday December 7th at 6pm at the Market House. Join the school choir for carol singing followed by a mulled wine and mince pie reception.

Grangecon NS Parents Association invite parents to an Internet Safety Training Session on Monday 2nd December from 7.30pm–9.30pm in Grangecon Church Hall. This is for parents of Primary School children and will cover all aspects of internet safety and cyber bullying.
