Newsletter May 4th

As we progress through our school year, it is great to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel. However it is more important than ever to remember that:

  • If children are displaying any symptoms of Covid 19 they should restrict their movements and self -isolate until their doctor has been contacted.
  • Children must remain at home if they are identified as a close contact of a confirmed case of Covid-19, if they live with someone with symptoms of the virus or if they have recently travelled outside Ireland.
  • Please avoid congregating at or near the school and wear a mask if you cannot keep 2m apart in line with public health guidelines.

Parent teacher meetings took place for all classes except 5th class last week. Ms. Keogh will have hers this evening Tuesday. Teachers will attempt to contact any parents that were missed over the course of this week.

1st/3rd and 5th classes will have Stay Safe Lessons beginning this week May 4th. All other classes will be conducting RSE lessons during the course of this week. If parents have any questions, please contact the office.

As the weather starts to get a bit better, children are more inclined to take off jumpers etc. at break times. Please ensure that each item of clothing has your child’s name on it as they can get mislaid.

Standardised testing will take place for all classes from Senior Infants to 6th beginning next week May 10th.

The school will not be contactable by phone this week from 2pm onwards on Tuesday as teachers conduct Parent Teacher Meetings. If you need to contact us at this time, please do so by email at

Our school football leagues are underway for 3rd/4th classes and 5th/6th classes.

Drama takes place on Wednesday and Thursday for Solas, Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 5th and 6th classes.

We received a letter last week from Archbishop’s House saying that at present no dates (even provisional) can be fixed for Holy Communion or Confirmation. As soon as we hear of a change in this, we will be in contact.
