Newsletter May 29th

*Congratulations to all the boys and girls who received their First Holy Communion on Saturday last. Thanks to Ms. McMahon for preparing the children, to Ms. Keogh, Ms. Boland and the choir and to Fr. Douglas for his constant support.

*A huge thank you to all the first class parents who provided the refreshments for after the Holy Communion ceremony. Thanks also to the parents’ association and all the volunteers that served the refreshments.

*We would appeal to everyone, (children and parents) not to enter the school grounds through either of the two car parks at any time during the school day. If parents are pushing a buggy we would still ask them to enter through the two pedestrian entrances.

*Next Friday June 2nd is Sports day. Please make sure the children have sun cream and hats on, and have plenty to drink as the forecast is for warm weather.

*We have a meeting for our incoming junior infants and their parents on Wednesday 15th June at 2pm.

*Reminder if children are wearing shorts with their uniform they should be grey in classes 1st-6th and navy on PE days and navy in Junior and Senior Infants.

*Swimming continues this week for 2nd and 3rd classes and Solas Senior.

*We are currently organising music lessons for next year. If anyone new is interested, please contact the school office on 045401495. This year lessons cost €210 but we have been informed that there will be an increase of at least €50 next year. We haven’t been given a definite price yet.

Instruments offered are piano, guitar and flute.

*We have been asked to close the school on Monday 19th June at 12 noon to facilitate inservice training for the Primary Curriculum Framework.

*Our senior boys and girls football teams travel to Donard this Tuesday for the Gemma O’ Hanlon tournament leaving the school after 10am.

*Reminder that the school is closed next week for June break.

*A graduation Mass for 6th class will take place on Thursday 22nd June at 7p.m. and 6th class will be clapped out on Friday 23rd June at 2.40 on their last day.
