NEWSLETTER – Monday 20th May 2019

  • First Holy Communion takes place on Saturday next May 25th at 11am. Families are invited back to the school for refreshments which will be served in Solas.
  • The Parents Association will serve refreshments after First Holy Communion. If any parents of Junior Infant children are available to help out it would be much appreciated. Anyone available should contact the school office on 045-401495.
  • Families of 1st class children are asked to donate sandwiches for the afters of the First Communion while Senior Infants parents are asked to contribute homemade produce. These can be dropped into the school on Saturday morning from 10.30am onwards.
  • The school choir will sing at the First Holy Communion ceremony and should be in the church by 10.45am.
  • The Board of Management insist that all school fee money be paid before school tour money can be accepted. We appeal to parents with outstanding school fees to engage with the school.
  • A questionnaire regarding music tuition for next year will be sent home to families today. Please complete and return to Mr Brennan by this coming Thursday May 23rd.
  • Our thanks to Coderdojo for their kind donation of €250 to the school. It will be put towards hiring bouncing castles for Sports Day.
  • Swimming lessons continue for 2nd and 3rd class this week. We will not have swimming lessons next year and will offer those lessons to the 2nd and 3rd classes during the school year 2020/2021.
  • We have been unable to employ the Headlice Experts to visit our school. They are uncontactable. If anyone knows of a similar agency we would love to hear from them.
  • Please ensure that children’s names are on their jumpers and tracksuit tops. Please check the jumper/tracksuit top that your child has as children can often take home the wrong top by accident.
  • Standardised Maths & English tests will be carried out in class over the next two weeks.
  • 4th class go on their school tour on Tuesday week May 28th.
  • Sincere thanks to Tony Allen who last week spotted a water leak at the front of the school and sorted it out for us. It was after school hours and his intervention was very much appreciated.
  • The school will close this Friday May 24th to facilitate voting in the local and European elections.
  • The school is closed on Monday next May 27th as staff will attend an in-service on the New Primary Language curriculum.
