Newsletter May 18

  • The school is open today, Monday May 18 , from 10am to 12 noon should any parents wish to access classrooms for books, items of clothing etc. Work has been updated on the website for those classes not using Seesaw. Teachers can be contacted via the email addresses listed under each class. Parents can also make enquiries via the school website snndunlavin.com or via the school email snndunlavin@gmail.com. We appeal to all parents accessing the school to observe social distancing. It will also be open on Monday next , May 25, at the same times.
  • We held a Zoom call last week for our 6th class on the day they should have been celebrating their Confirmation. We are looking at ways to mark their leaving primary level but will not make any decision on that until mid to late June and see then what level restrictions are in place at that stage.
  • 6th class are busy working on their year book. If any parents have photographs of any activities involving 6th class during their time in school could they please email them to cmoranbest6thclass@gmail.com or drop or post them to the school. All original photos will be returned.
  • We will hold a Zoom call this Friday at 11am for children in 2nd class.Access will be sent by text to their parents. They should be celebrating First Holy Communion next Saturday.
  • The meeting for our new Junior Infants and their parents has been postponed from Wednesday June 10 to Saturday July 11. Families involved will be notified by email or post this week.
  • We will issue school reports, booklists and a school fees schedule to all current families by post by the end of June. Decisions regarding class teachers for the coming year will not be made until mid July.
  • Carrie Lidierth will finish teaching 1st class on Friday May 29. She has replaced Lindsey Quinlan who returns from maternity leave on June 8. Carrie was a great addition to our school and will be missed.
  • Regarding homeschooling we will observe the week of June 1-5 as a week off school as per our schedule for the year so parents and children should down tools that week. We would be grateful if school owned books could be returned to the school during the week beginning June 9.We will issue a list of those books that week.
  • Any parents of children wishing to take up Music Generation lessons for guitar, piano, brass or tin whistle for the next school year must email snndunlavin@gmail.com by this Friday May 22 and not the date listed in last weeks newsletter. We can only get a teacher based on the number of children wishing to take up that particular instrument. For example if 10 children want to get piano lessons we can book a teacher for 2.5 hours per week. Therefore we must know how many children require lessons by Friday so that Music Generation can organise the hours.
  • A number of our teachers, pupils and past pupils were involved in a virtual music performance with Ballymore Eustace Concert Band. Their efforts are available to view on the Twitter feed on the home page of our newsletter.
