- We have recently been informed of our successful application, along with 28 other schools nationally, for an energy upgrade retrofit for our school.
The works for this project will take place over the summer holidays and will see the school receiving new external windows and doors, external insulation to the older part of the school and underfloor and roof insulation, a change to LED lighting and a change of heating system to air to water with a gas back up. While this is a very exciting development it will involve a lot of preparation work as the part of the school involved needs to be completely cleared out. The school will be off limits for the duration of the summer while the works are taking place.
To facilitate this the BOM have decided to close the school at 10am on the final day, June 27th to allow for furniture etc. to be moved in preparation for the works. Teachers will have their end of year activities on Thursday 26th.
When we return on August 27th we hope to see a more energy-efficient up to date building. While the finishing touches will still have to be added at a later date this is a very exciting project for our school and should future-proof the building for the future.
- Please see attached a link to the official announcement of the project.

A Chara,
As we wrap up the school year here in Scoil Nicolas Naofa, the Parents Association would like to take a moment to thank you — the wonderful parents and guardians — for all your support, time, and involvement over the past year.
It’s been another busy and brilliant year for the Parents’ Association, and it simply wouldn’t have been possible without your help. Between the lovely Christmas card fundraiser and the great night had by all at the Table Quiz, the response was fantastic. The generosity shown through sponsorship and raffle ticket sales means we can continue to support the school in ways that make a real difference for the children — like the relining of the school yard for games, which we’re delighted to be able to help with soon.
It’s also lovely to be able to give the kids a few treats along the way — the mini-Easter eggs and the ice pops after Sports Day went down a treat!
We’re always keen to welcome new members and fresh ideas, so do keep an eye out for our meeting dates in the new school year. Whether you’ve a little time to spare or a big idea to share, you’d be more than welcome.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh for everything this year.
Wishing you all a safe and sunny summer.
The Parents’ Association
