NEWSLETTER – Monday 12^th June 2023

• Many thanks to all who made Sports day a great success and thanks to the Parents Association for providing ice-creams for all classes.
• Well done to the girls’ 7 a-side football teams, one of which won the Gemma Hanlon Cup played in Donard last week and to our boys 7 a-side teams who played so well.
• School reports for this year along with charge schedules and stationery lists for next year will be sent home this week.
• This Tuesday June 13^th is Wellness day in our school. The classes will take part in various activities focused on the promotion of wellbeing.
• Congratulations to Lucy Fadian and Mary Corrigan (6^th class pupils) who were members of the Wicklow U14 ladies football team who defeated Clare in the All Ireland Final on Saturday.
• We have our Junior Infant welcome meeting this Thursday June 15^th at 1.45pm.
• A graduation Mass for 6^th class will take place on Thursday 22^nd June at 7p.m. and 6^th class will be clapped out on Friday 23^rd June at 2.40 on their last day.
• The school will close on Monday next June 19^th at 12 noon to facilitate in-service training in the new primary curriculum.
• Eileen Kelly (local author) will read her books for 1^st and 2^nd classes this Friday June 16^th.
• There is a gaelic football blitz for 1^st/2^nd class children in Baltinglass on Thursday next June 15^th at 11am. If any parents are available to drive, please contact the school office.
• There are 2 swimming lessons remaining for 2^nd/3^rd and Solas. The last lesson is Wed 21^st
• We are currently organising music lessons for next year. If anyone new is interested, please contact the school office on 045401495. This year lessons cost €210 but we have been informed that next year they will cost €280. Instruments offered are piano, guitar and flute.
• A planner from Safe Routes to School (SRTS) visited the school last week along with an engineer to look at safety issues outside the school. They are to return in September when traffic is at its heaviest. Following this, a plan will be put together to see what can be done to make the outside of our school a safer place for all.
• This is water safety week and classes will be looking at water safety.
• Reminder if children are wearing shorts with their uniform they should be grey in classes 1^st-6^th and navy on PE days and navy in Junior and Senior Infants. They are available from The Back to School Shop on Cutlery Road, in Newbridge. We will organise a uniform swap towards the end of the year….details to follow.
