NEWSLETTER – Monday 10th June 2024

  • Many thanks to all who made Sports day a great success and thanks to the Parents Association for providing ice-creams for all classes.
  • Well done to Charlie Walsh 3rd class who won the signed Wicklow Jersey in our raffle and to the Cronin family who won the signed football. Over €800 was raised and this will go towards the relining of our school yard. Thanks to everyone for your support.
  • We have our Junior Infant welcome meeting next Tuesday June 18th at 1.45pm.
  • A graduation Mass for 6th class will take place on Tuesday 18th June at 8p.m. and 6th class will be clapped out on Wednesday 19th June at 2.40 on their last day before their school tour.
  • We have been informed that €224.15 was raised by the Trócaire Lenten campaign.
  • There is one swimming lesson remaining for 2nd/3rd and Solas. The last lesson is Wed 12th
  • We are currently organising music lessons for next year. If anyone new is interested, please contact the school office on 045-401495. This year lessons cost €280 and next year’s will probably be the same. Instruments offered are piano and guitar. Places for piano are full but there are still some places for guitar.
  • Two planners from Safe Routes to School (SRTS) visited the school last week along with an engineer from the County Council to look at safety issues outside the school. The met with members of the local community along with school staff and members of the Board of Management. A plan has been put together and will be available for public comment shortly. We will issue an email once it becomes accessible.
  • This is water safety week and classes will be looking at water safety.
  • 6th Class visited Turlough Hill Powerstation last week.
  • Reminder if children are wearing shorts with their uniform they should be grey in classes 1st-6th and navy on PE days and navy in Junior and Senior Infants. They are available from The Back to School Shop on Cutlery Road, in Newbridge. We will organise a uniform swap towards the end of the year….details to follow.
  • Patrick Hunt visited the school last week and brought Junior Infants, Senior Infants and 1st Classes for a nature walk. The following day he took 2nd Class, 3rd Class and 4th Class to the Griese River for pond dipping.
  • Well done to everyone that took part in the fabulous production Peter Pan in the Moat Theatre last week. A special thanks to Kathleen Lambe, Deirdre Browne, Ciara Moran and Serena Conroy for all their work getting the children ready for the show. The show could not have taken place without the stars. Well done to all the boys and girls from 5th and 6th classes who entertained us on the night.
