NEWSLETTER – Monday 10th June 2019

Many thanks to Samran Tinkler for providing fruit for the children during Sports Day and to Laura Grehan for distributing ice cream on behalf of the Parents Association.

Our thanks to all the parents who have supported the school this year whether through reading in classrooms, serving refreshments, involvement in Parent Association or Board of Management or by driving children to matches. We greatly appreciate all you do for the school.

Our girls and boys football teams will play in the Gemma O’Hanlon 7-a-side blitz to be held in Donard this Wednesday. We will leave the school at 10.30am and would welcome drivers.

Immunisations for Junior Infants take place this Wednesday June 12th at 9.30am in the school hall.

The Board of Management will meet on Monday next June 17th.

A meeting for new infants and their parents takes place in the school hall this Wednesday at 2pm.

We welcome the Artane Junior Band to the school this Friday. They will perform for classes and parents are invited to attend. The concerts will take place at 10.30am and 11.30am in the school hall.

School reports, booklists and a school fees list will be sent home this week. The school will re-open on Thursday August 28th. Solas will re-open on Friday August 29th.

5th class go on their school tour this coming Friday June 14th to Clara Lara. They will leave the school at 9.30am and hope to return for 2.40pm.

Parents and children should be aware that school tours are organised at the discretion of the class teacher. While our 6th classes have travelled to Wales/England for their tour for the past number of years, it cannot be assumed that this will always be the case.

Swimming lessons continue this week and next week for 2nd and 3rd classes.

Next week is Water Safety Week in school.

Next year we are reconsidering our policy on swimming lessons. The parents of 2nd class will be surveyed this week and we would ask for the forms to be returned to the class teacher by this Thursday June 13th.

A Graduation Mass for our 6th classes takes place on Tuesday next June 17th at 8pm in the church.

On Thursday June 20th we invite Grandparents to our school and we will hoist our Green Flag on the same day.

Wood turner, John Doran, will work with Junior Infants to 2nd classes this Thursday in the school hall. This is being sponsored by the Parents Association. They will also sponsor Zumba lessons for 3rd to 6th classes which will take place on Monday next June 17th.

Crookstown Millview Sports takes place this Wednesday at their sports centre in Narraghmore. Registration is at 6pm with races starting at 7pm. Races are for Junior Infants to 6th class childr
