Newsletter January 6th 2025

  • Welcome back to everyone after the Christmas holidays and best wishes to all connected with the school for the year ahead. The school is to remain closed on Monday Jan 6th on the advice of the BOM in the interest of the health and safety of everyone.
  • Well done to the choir who sang with the Ballymore Eustace Concert Band and with Rory Dunne before Christmas. Thanks to Robert O’ Neill, Sinéad Keogh and Ciara Flood for working with them.
  • Many thanks to all the children who turned up to sing in the choir on Christmas morning and special thanks to Sinéad Keogh and Ciara Flood for looking after them.
  • Music Generation lessons will resume this week for piano and guitar. Contact will be made with all those participating to see if they wish to continue the lessons for the rest of the school year. If any places become available they will be offered to any other children who may be interested.
  • Our thanks to everyone for your support for our no uniform day in aid of St. Vincent de Paul that was held before Christmas. A total of €623 was raised.
  • Applications are now being accepted for our Junior Infants class for this coming September. Applications can be made online via the school website snndunlavin.com. Enrolment forms are available from the school office. Closing date for applications is Feb 1st.
  • We are obliged to report childrens’ absences of greater than 20 days to Tusla. Once children have exceeded this number parents will be informed.
  • As we begin a new year we would like to stress the importance of attendance and punctuality. It is very important that children attend school unless they are unwell. If a child is absent for any reason a note should be given to the class teacher. It is also important that children arrive for school on time at 9am. Work starts in classes at this time and children that are late miss out on social and academic interaction that takes place at the beginning of the day. We will be keeping note of all late arrivals and early collections.
  • Student teacher Lauren Barrett will be on teaching practice in 1st class from Monday January 13th for 3 weeks.
  • School will be closed on Wednesday January 22nd for maths inservice. The mid- term break in February takes place on Thursday February 20th and Friday February 21st. Easter closing takes place on Friday April 11th.
