Newsletter January 23rd

NEWSLETTER – Monday 23rd January 2023

Parent Teacher meetings take place on Wednesday 8th and Thursday, February 9th. Times will be sent home this week.

We will have an U11 and U13 team travelling to Scoil Naomh íosaf, Baltinglass on Friday 27th January to take part in the Credit Union Quiz. Best of luck to them.

Congratulations to Ruby O’ Neill, Jack O’ Neill, Charlie O’Neill, Darragh and Jason Orr, Fausta and Meda Elijosiute, and PJ Bowes who all won prizes in the Christmas Tree Decoration from recycled materials competition. They will travel to Blessington Co. Council Offices next Monday to collect their prizes.

This week is road safety week. Classes will do lessons on road safety and maybe parents could also speak to their children about road safety and crossing the road outside the school.

As part of our school evaluation process we are looking for parents thoughts on the effect of COVID-19 on their children over the last number of years. Attached is a link to a short survey and we would be very grateful if you could take the time to complete it.

Drama will conclude for Senior Infants, 1st, 3rd, and 4th classes this week. All other classes will start their block of drama on Feb 1st. Payment is due for these classes and letters will be issued this week in relation to this.

Conor Byrne GPO is with us every Monday and Thursday. He will take 2/3/4/5/6 classes every Monday and JI/SI/ and 1st class on Thursdays. We are very grateful to him and to Dunlavin GAA for their support.

Reminder that the closing date for applications for Junior Infants/Solas is February 1st.

Food Dudes began last week for Junior Infants – 1st and will start for other classes next week. Children are encouraged to sample fruit and vegetables of different kinds and gain rewards in the process. Uneaten fruit and vegetables will be sent home in lunch boxes where parents can see what is on offer.

We would encourage parents to make sure that all children are wearing the correct uniform. School tracksuits are only to be worn on PE days. The uniform is a grey trousers/skirt, grey shirt, wine jumper/cardigan and wine tie. The tracksuit is a plain navy bottoms and school tracksuit top with a plain white polo shirt.
