NEWSLETTER – Monday 26th February 2024

  • Well done to our 5th and 6th class boys who took part in a football blitz in Blessington last Friday. Thanks to the parents that provided transport also.
  • Reminder that Wednesday Feb 28th is the closing date for acceptance letters for Junior Infants
  • All classes will take part in a new initiative “Run Around Europe” starting this week. All classes are challenged to build a 10 minute – “Run a Day” into their daily routines across the 4 weeks of the challenge. Working together as a class and a school the combined km will bring the children to many of the capital cities of Europe. Each class can decide which capital city they would like to visit. Laps of the court can be completed by walking or running. Teacher and SNA laps will be counted too!!!
  • Reminder that the school will be closed on Friday March 8th for a referendum
  • The Parents’ Association sent a letter and survey last week in relation to children having mobile phones. Please return the surveys to the class teachers if you haven’t already done so.
  • 5th and 6th class will begin a Marathon Kids programme this week. This is an 8 week programme where students learn about the health benefits of sport and perform 4 running sessions each week inching them closer to completing their first marathon as well as learning about the benefits of physical activity. This will run in conjunction with Run Europe for 5th and 6th class children.
  • World book day is on the 7th All children will receive vouchers towards the purchase of a book.
  • The children in 5th and 6th classes will begin preparations this week for the musical Peter Pan which will take place in the Moat Theatre Naas on Monday 27th The children will have the opportunity to rehearse during the day in the theatre and the performance will take place that evening.
  • Classes will be completing Relationship and Sexuality lessons relevant to their age group over the coming fortnight.
  • Children in 1/2/3 classes will complete NNRIT tests (Non reading Intelligence tests) next week.

Dunlavin and District Forum are holding their AGM on Monday, March 4th at 8pm upstairs in the Imaal Hall. Please come along and support the development of your village. People often fear an AGM because they think they will "get a job". That won't happen, come along and see what Dunlavin and District Forum is all about

Dunlavin Baby & Toddler group is starting back this Wednesday 28th February in Seomra at the Imaal Hall. From 9.30 to 12 noon and will run every week.

All welcome, parents, grandparents and minders etc. The kettle will be on and lots of toys for the kids to play with, a cuppa and chats for the grownups :) Contact Dunlavin Parents Group via Facebook for any queries.
