NEWSLETTER – Monday 24th February 2020

    • Many thanks to all those families who returned the survey forms last week. Thanks for all the comments which will help the school going forward. Results of the survey is as follows; 92% of families favour the current way swimming lessons are carried out, 93% are in favour of Speech and Drama lessons, 92% are in favour of the Music Generation Vocal Programme, 84% are in favour of keeping school uniform/tracksuit policy as is and 96% of families favour the current system of offering music lessons during school hours.
    • Children from 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes will be tested on the Non Reading Intelligence test next week. It gives us an idea of children’s IQ and helps when compared to their standardised reading test results.
    • Children from Junior Infants to 4th classes will have lessons on a Relationship & Sexuality Programme next week. A copy of these lessons is available to read in the school office if any parent wishes to view the content covered.
    • Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent and ashes will be distributed to all children. If you do not want your child to receive ashes please inform the class teacher. Trocaire Lenten Boxes will be sent home to each family this week and can be returned after Easter.
    • 3rd and 4th classes will be involved in a Music Generation Singing Project called Cumann na nÓg. It culminates in a concert to be held in Russborough House on Saturday June 13th. Specialist vocal teachers will call to the school over the coming months to work with these classes.
    • Our U13 quiz team are taking part in the next round of the Credit Union Quiz competition which takes place in Toughers Naas at 2pm this coming Sunday March 1st.
    • We are sending a Badminton squad to the National Badminton Primary School finals which takes place on Wednesday week March 4th in Baldoyle.
    • A senior boy’s football blitz takes place in Baltinglass on Friday next February 28th at 11am. We will leave the school at 10.20am and would welcome drivers.
    • Many thanks to all involved in distributing and selling reindeer food. A total of €634 was raised for Solas.
  • Western Gaels Hurling Club will hold a swap and share hurling event in Blessington GAA grounds on Sunday next March 1st at 10am. Bring your old hurleys, helmets etc.
  • Community Games Cross Country training starts in Donard on Wednesday week March 4th at 3pm. U14 Table Quiz takes place on Saturday March 7th at 11am in Scoil Nioclais Naofa.
