NEWSLETTER – Monday 9th December 2019

Thanks to Sineád Keogh and the children from the choir who performed at the switching on of the towns Christmas lights on Saturday. The choir will sing at a school’s carol service in Ballymore on Thursday week December 17th and will also sing at the 10am Mass on Christmas Day.

We are collecting items for the annual St. Vincent de Paul food appeal. A list of required items is available on the back of this newsletter. Items can be dropped into the school office up to this coming Friday December 13th.

The recent digital survey showed that parents would welcome an internet safety talk for parents and also internet safety workshops for children. It showed that Junior Infant children are spending 30 minutes on average each day accessing the internet while students in 6th class are spending 1½ to 2 hours per day accessing the internet.

Many thanks for your support of the Non-Uniform Day held last Friday.

The school carol service featuring Junior Infants, 1st, 3rd and 5th class children takes place this Thursday December 12th at 7pm in the church. Children should wear their white polo shirt and tracksuit bottoms unless they are given different instructions by their class teacher. The children from 1st class will present the Nativity Story.

Junior Infants will perform a nativity play for parents in their classroom on Wednesday December 18th at 1pm. The children from Senior Infants will perform a nativity play for their parents on Thursday December 19th in their classroom at 1pm.

In January we will send out a list of weeks when no written homework will be issued. Parents should note that a no written homework week means that reading, spelling and tables must be covered.

Santa will visit the school on Monday next December 16th and our thanks to Ray Byrne for looking after his safe arrival.

We close for Christmas Holidays on Friday week December 20th at 12 noon.
