Newsletter December 8th 2025
· We would ask that children do not exchange Christmas gifts or cards in school as this can cause upset to those not included.
· Santa will visit the school on Dec 16th.
· A big congratulations to Fintan Rix in 6th class who won 1st prize in the 11-13 yrs. category in the Credit Union Art Competition.
· During cold and wet weather we would ask that all children bring coats/hats/gloves to school and please make sure they have your child’s name on them. If at all possible children will be going outside at break times.
· The BOM meet this Tuesday at 8.30pm.
· Thanks to the Parents’ association for organising Colin to come to school with his owls and other birds. It was a really enjoyable experience for the children…and the teachers!
· Our Carol Service and nativity play with Junior Infants, 1st, 3rd and 5th classes will take place in St. Nicholas of Myra church on Thursday Dec 11th at 7pm. Children are asked to wear their tracksuit bottoms and white polo shirt. If they have a Santa hat they can also wear that. We would ask children to be in the church at 6.50pm.
· Reminder that school will close for Christmas holidays on Friday 19th December at 12 noon and reopen on Monday January 5th.
· Applications for Junior Infants/Solas for 2026/27 will be accepted from January 1st to February 1st 2026. Application forms can be found on our school website under the information tab or by contacting the school office on 045 401495. Please note that children must be at least 4years of age by March 31st 2025 as per our enrolment policy.
· We will hold a Christmas jumper/non uniform day on Thursday, December 16th. We would ask that all children bring in a small donation in aid of our local St. Vincent de Paul.
· Well done to the choir for singing at the turning on of the Christmas Lights on Saturday. Thanks to Robert O’ Neill and Ciara Flood for looking after them.
· The school choir will sing with the Ballymore Brass band in St. Nicholas of Myra Church on December 21st at 7pm. They will also sing at the 10am Christmas Day Mass. Thanks to Sinead Keogh, Ciara Flood and Robert O’ Neill for preparing them.
· Some members of the choir have been asked to sing in the nursing home on December 17th.
· Reminder that the school is a mobile free area for children. This includes any smart devices or items that can record or take pictures. Any breaches of this policy will be dealt with according to our Code of Behaviour.
