Newsletter August 30th

Newsletter Monday August 30

  • We hope everyone had a nice relaxing summer and managed to take advantage of some of the nice weather.
  • We will reopen our school this Monday August 30th for all classes from Junior Infants to 6th Solas will reopen on Tuesday August 31st. Parents from Junior Infants will be permitted to accompany their child to the classroom for the first three days of their schooling. We would ask that from Thursday next September 2 that those parents drop their child at the outside door where the class teacher will meet them and bring their child to class. Parents from Solas can bring their children around by the Senior Infants entrance and they will be met at a door by staff. All other classes will enter the classrooms by the exit doors at each class. Signs for each class are on the outside of each door. Parents are only permitted to enter the school by ringing the bell at the main door or by making an appointment. Parents must wear a mask if they come into school and must sign the contact tracing form at the front door. Children from 3rd to 6th class must socially distance when walking into their classroom each day.

Please see attached information on returning to school

  • First Penance for last year’s second class will take place on Wednesday 8th September at 7pm in the church. Children can wear their normal clothes. First Holy Communion takes place on Saturday September 11th at 11a.m. Confirmation will take place on Saturday 18th September with two ceremonies at 11am and 1pm. We have had to split the classes for this to allow for these ceremonies to take place. Many thanks to Fr Douglas for facilitating this and many thanks to Aoife Slattery, Ciara Moran and Margaret McMahon for preparing the children.
  • We have 35 Junior Infants starting and 7 other children who will be new to the school so we hope they all settle in easily and are made very welcome in our school. We welcome back Serena Conroy to 5th class and Paula Meehan to special education. We also welcome Lisa Wheatley who will be working in Solas and Eimear O’ Connell who will be in special education. Michael Moran is currently on sick leave and Ciara Moran will be acting principal in his absence.
  • Parents who need to accompany their children into the school grounds can do so but must stay at the front of the school and maintain social distancing. We would encourage older children to walk, cycle or scoot to school. Children should bring a light rain jacket to school every day as we will make every effort to go out at breaks regardless of weather conditions.
  • Each child should have their own stationery and crayons etc. Please make sure that your child’s property is clearly labelled with their name in particular jumpers, jackets and tracksuit tops.
  • We are splitting our break times and will restrict classes to the following groupings at break…Junior and Senior Infants, 1st and 2nd, 3rd and 4th and 5th and 6th
  • We have been informed that Music Generation lessons will start back. That means that guitar, piano and flute lessons will continue. We have names of those interested from last year. The fees for guitar and piano lessons work out at approx. €210 per annum paid in two instalments.
  • All school fee payments must be paid in an envelope with the child’s name written on the outside and an indication of what the fees are covering also written on the outside of the envelope. Receipts will be issued for all payments. Payment can also be made online at the following BIC and IBAN. Please reference your child’s name if you are paying by this method.
