Welcome back to everyone after the Easter holidays.
Well done to Conor Grace (6th class) and Evan Miley (5th class) who represented Wicklow in the game versus Westmeath at half time during the Leinster Senior Football match between Wicklow and Westmeath in Portlaoise. It was great to see the lads in their county colours.
As the weather starts to get a bit better, children are more inclined to take off jumpers etc. at break times. Please ensure that each item of clothing has your child’s name on it as they can get mislaid.
Reminder that the Our Shoes campaign for children in South African townships is extended to Friday April 26th. Any unwanted runners or canvas shoes can be dropped to the school office before that date.
Our Run Around Europe Challenge has seen classes complete a combined distance of 4,800km.
Our 5th and 6th classes continue their Marathon Kids programme each day and will travel to Ballymore GAA grounds on Thursday 18th April to meet and run with former Olympian David Gillick.
Drama continues on Wednesday and Thursday for Solas, Senior Infants, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes.
Our 6th class Confirmation Candidates will travel to the Dominican Retreat Centre on Thursday April 25th for a pre Confirmation retreat. The cost of this is covered in School charges.
Basketball starts this Wednesday for Solas, 1st, 4th and 5th classes. The cost of this is covered by school charges. A text will be sent to anyone with outstanding charges.
Our senior boy’s football team will play Kilmead NS in St. Lawerence’s GAA club Crookstown this Tuesday April 9th at 12pm. Please contact the school office if you are available to drive.
Our Senior Girls are due to have a game this Wednesday against Allenwood NS in Allenwood….time to be confirmed.
A big thank you to all parents that have volunteered to drive to matches and events on many occasions. We would ask anybody driving not to stop at a shop as this can be very costly on those that are already helping us hugely by driving.
We have some boys and girls taking part in the INTO GAA skills competition this Thursday in Blessington. Boys hurling and football is at 10.30am and girl’s football and camogie is at 12pm. We wish them all the best.
Liz Greene begins a teaching practice placement in 4th class from Monday until May 17th.
Elaine Birchall will begin a placement in 5th class from April 15th to May 17th.
Holly Wright will be on a two week placement in Ms. Dunne’s Junior Infants from 29th April to May 10.
