Newsletter April 7th 2025
*Please note school will close this Friday at 12 noon for Easter holidays. It will reopen on Monday April 28th.
*Well done to our school teams who took part in various competitions last week. Our senior boys were unlucky to lose out to a strong Kilmead team on Tuesday. Our Senior girls were narrowly defeated by Allenwood on Wednesday.
*Our U10 boys lost out to Crookstown on Friday while wearing their fabulous new jersies kindly sponsored by Tom O’ Neill Golf Academy, Tony Allen Heating and Plumbing and PJ and Aisling Grace.
*This week there won’t be training for any of the school teams, senior boys, senior girls, u 10 boys or hurling as there are meetings each evening after school.
*Our 5th/6th classes have a mixed hurling blitz (Boys and girls) this Thursday at 11 in Stratford. Please contact the school office if you are available to drive. We will leave the school at 10.30.
*Well done to Jack Corrigan who competed in the County Final of the GAA skills competition in Ballinakill last week.
*First confession takes place this Tuesday April 8th at 7pm in St. Nicholas of Myra, Church. Children can wear their own clothes on the night.
*Ceremony of Light for confirmation takes place on Tuesday, April 29th at 8pm.
*6th class are holding a bake sale and jumble sale this Thursday, April 10th. It will be held during the school day and all classes will get a chance to go to it. Items will be charged at 50c/€1/€1.50 and €2.
*We would ask anyone wishing to travel on school tours this year to return the €5 deposit to your class teacher by this Monday 7th April or if your child does not wish to go, please indicate on the form your child received.
*As the weather is better the children are able to use the school pitches for football at break times. Please note that they must have a change of trousers and footwear.
*Congratulations to Evan Miley and TJ Harney who represented Wicklow in a half time game during the Wicklow/ Longford Leinster Championship today.
*Well done to all the children who are taking part in ‘Skip around Europe’ at the moment.
*We would ask that anyone wishing to continue with music generation lessons, guitar or piano, to contact Christine in the school office on 045401495 before Tuesday April 8th. After that date places will be offered to other students for the 2025/26 school year.
*Swimming will start on Wednesday April 30th for 2nd/3rd classes. The cost is €70 for the six weeks and can be paid to the class teacher. Children are asked to bring goggles and armbands unless they are very competent swimmers.
