*All classes from 1st to 6th will complete standardised tests in both English and Maths during the week of May 7th -10th .
*Thank you to all who contributed shoes for our In My Shoes Campaign. The shoes will be sent to various townships in South Africa to allow children there to walk to school. We received over 70 pairs of shoes. The campaign is now finished.
*The Service of Light for 6th class takes place on Tuesday May 7th at 8 o clock in the Church.
*Well done to our girls’ football team that were narrowly defeated by Athgarvan last week.
*Well done to our Senior Boys’ team that defeated Nurney during the week. They play Kilmeague this week in St. Laurence’s GAA Club Crookstown at 12. Please contact the office if you are able to drive. We will be leaving the school around 11.15.
*Our U10 footballers had a great win against Two Mile House on Thursday. We have a match against St. Laurence’s Crookstown in St. Laurence’s on Friday…time to be confirmed.
*Our 5/6 class hurling team will play in a blitz in Kiltegan this Thursday at 10am. We will leave the school at 9.15 and would be grateful if anyone available to drive would contact the school office.
*Children from 1st, 3rd and 5th classes will start lessons from the Stay Safe Programme on May 7th.
* Swimming will start on Wednesday May 1st for Solas Senior, 2nd and 3rd classes. The cost is €70 for the six weeks and must be paid to the class teacher before lessons start. Children are asked to bring goggles and armbands unless they are very competent swimmers.
*The Parents Association are holding a clothes/shoes collection from Wednesday May 8th to Wednesday May 15th.
