Newsletter April 19th

Newsletter April 18th

We would like to thank you all for adhering to government protocols with regard to Covid 19 and remind you that:

  • If children are displaying any symptoms of Covid 19 they should restrict their movements and self -isolate until their doctor has been contacted.
  • Children must remain at home if they are identified as a close contact of a confirmed case of Covid-19, if they live with someone with symptoms of the virus or if they have recently travelled outside Ireland.
  • Please avoid congregating at or near the school and wear a mask if you cannot keep 2m apart in line with public health guidelines.

We would ask you to please continue to speak to your children about proper hygiene procedures regarding handwashing, sanitising and coughing and sneezing etiquette.

Details of Parent Teacher meetings by phone were sent out by email last week. They will take place between Monday April 26th and Tuesday May 4th. More precise details with regard to approximate times will be issued in your child’s homework journal/folder during the course of this week.

Facilitators from Accord will be with us on Tuesday for a Relationships and Sexuality talk for 6th and 5th classes and for the girls in 4th class. Please contact the school before Tuesday if you do not want your child to take part.

As the weather starts to get a bit better, children are more inclined to take off jumpers etc. at break times. Please ensure that each item of clothing has your child’s name on it as they can get mislaid.

We would ask parents not to call to the school unless absolutely necessary. If you do need to enter the school for any reason, please do so through the main door at the office. Please fill in the contact tracing log and please wear a mask. If you need to contact your child’s teacher, you can do so by putting a note in the journal, by ringing the school at 045401495 or by email at The school will not be contactable by phone between April 26th and May 4th from 2pm as the school phone will be in use for parent teacher meetings.

Drama takes place on Wednesday and Thursday for Solas, Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 5th and 6th classes.

Gaelic football is on Tuesdays for Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 5th and 6th classes.

Hurling begins tomorrow and each Monday for 3rd and 4th classes. If children have their own hurls and helmets they can bring those in with them.

Basketball takes place on Wednesday for 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes. The cost of this is covered by school fees.

We are looking for a balance bike for Solas. If anybody has one that they are finished with, we would greatly appreciate if you would consider passing it on to us.
