Newsletter April 12th

Dear parents:

As we return to school following the Easter holidays

We would also like to remind you that:

· If children are displaying any symptoms of Covid 19 they should restrict their movements and self -isolate until their doctor has been contacted.

· Children must remain at home if they are identified as a close contact of a confirmed case of Covid-19, if they live with someone with symptoms of the virus or if they have recently travelled outside Ireland.

· Please avoid congregating at or near the school and wear a mask if you cannot keep 2m apart in line with public health guidelines.

We would ask you to please continue to speak to your children about proper hygiene procedures regarding handwashing, sanitising and coughing and sneezing etiquette.

We plan to have Parent Teacher Meetings during the last week in April and the first week in May. We had hoped that they might be able to take place face to face but unfortunately that is not the case. They will take the form of a phone call from your child’s teacher. We will send more details with the day and rough time that the teacher will ring for your child in due course.

We would like to welcome our new bus escort Robert Doherty who replaces Josephine Byrne. We would like to thank Josephine for all her work.

Please ensure your child has their uniform on each day apart from PE days and has a coat as we will be going out for break times unless rain is torrential. It might be a good idea to wear an extra layer under the uniform as windows will be open for ventilation purposes.

We would ask parents not to call to the school unless absolutely necessary. If you do need to enter the school for any reason, please do so through the main door at the office. Please fill in the contact tracing log and please wear a mask. If you need to contact your child’s teacher, you can do so by putting a note in the journal, by ringing the school at 045401495 or by email at

Drama takes place on Wednesday and Thursday for Solas, Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 5th and 6th classes. The cost of these lessons is covered if you have already paid school fees. From this week we will take it that non payment means that you do not wish your child(ren) to attend these classes.

Gaelic football is on Tuesdays for Junior Infants, Senior Infants, 5th and 6th classes.

Basketball begins this Wednesday for 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes. The cost of this is covered by school fees.
