27th August, 2023

Dear Parents,

I hope you and your children are well rested after the summer break. We look forward to welcoming you back as our school reopens on Wednesday, August 30th for all mainstream classes and Thursday, August 31st for Solas.

Junior Infants will go home at 12 o’ clock until Friday, September 15th.

I would like to congratulate Rónan Byrne who has become a permanent member of staff. I would like to welcome Robert O Neill who joins us on a permanent basis and will teach 4th class in the year ahead and Brenda Smullen who will be part of our SET (special educational teacher) team. Paula Meehan who has taught for many years in the school is resigning as a permanent member of staff but will cover some SET hours in the year ahead.

As you are aware following grant funding from the Department of Education the school will supply all books, copies and workbooks which will hopefully alleviate some financial pressures for families. Children only need the stationary that was requested on the list sent out in June along with a homework diary. I want to thank the Parents Association for organising the printing of personalised Scoil Nioclais Naofa homework diaries. These are available to purchase in the school hall on August 28th and 29th from 11.30 to 1pm both days and cost €3.

There are still some school charges which allow us to provide Speech&Drama lessons, Basketball lessons, Music Generation lessons. They also cover the cost of 24 hour personal accident insurance and contribute towards the cost of art materials for your child. Details of these charges were sent out in June. They can be paid on line using the following BIC and IBAN

BIC: AIBKIE2D

IBAN: IE56 AIBK 933244 65921015

Please reference your child’s name in the payment.

They can also be paid by cash or cheque directly to the school. Please place payment in a sealed envelope with your child’s name on the front. Receipts will be issued for all payments. Parents are welcome to pay in instalments at any time through either of the above methods. If you have any difficulty in paying please don’t hesitate to contact me in confidence.

We ask that children wear full uniform to school each day and their tracksuit on PE day. Children will be informed of their PE day in due course. Our uniform is available in the Back to School Store on Cutlery Road in Newbridge and can be viewed on their website. Junior and Senior Infants wear their tracksuit every day.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU LABEL ALL UNIFORM ITEMS!

Your child’s attendance at school is essential for their progress both socially and academically. Children should be in school every day unless they are sick. A note of absence should be sent in to the class teacher and will be recorded on the schools attendance database.

Children from 1st to 6th class will line up on the school yard each morning when the bell goes where they will be collected by their teacher. Children from Junior Infants and Senior Infants should wait outside the outside doors near their classrooms in the mornings where they will be collected by their teacher.

As we move into a new school year together I would like to wish parents, children and all school staff health and success in the year ahead.

Kind Regards,

Michael Moran
