Newsletter September 6th

Newsletter September 6th 2021

We have had a very successful return to school. Our Junior Infants have settled very well and will continue to go home from school each day at 12 noon until Friday next, September 10th. They should be dropped each morning at the outside doors and will be collected by class teachers. From Monday September 13th they will go home at 1.40pm.

Please remember that:

If children are displaying any symptoms of Covid 19 they should restrict their movements and self -isolate until their doctor has been contacted. If children are unwell apart from covid symptoms, they should remain at home until they are fit to attend school.

Our healthy eating policy is available on the school website and a hard copy will be issued to each family this week. We would appeal to all parents to adhere to the policy in the interest of all children.

A calendar for the school year is available on the school website, under newsletters.

Music Generation lessons in violin, flute/tin whistle, piano and guitar resume next week. If anyone else is interested please contact the school office before Wednesday. A note will be issued to all those taking part with information on the day and time of the lessons. These lessons cost €210.

Basketball coaching, Speech and Drama lessons and vocal programme begin the week after next. These lessons must be paid for in advance. The cost is part of the fee schedule issued in June.

An updated Homework Policy will be sent home next week. It will include rough guideline times for homework for each class. One of the most important aspects of home work is reading. Apart from children reading it is very important that parents read to children each day. It helps develop imagination and vocabulary and strengthens the bond between parent and child.

First Penance for last year’s second class will take place on Wednesday next 8th September at 7pm in the church. Children can wear their normal clothes. First Holy Communion takes place on Saturday September 11th at 11a.m. Confirmation will take place on Saturday 18th September with two ceremonies at 11am and 1pm. We have had to split the classes for this to allow for these ceremonies to take place. Many thanks to Fr Douglas for facilitating this and many thanks to Aoife Slattery, Ciara Moran and Margaret McMahon for preparing the children.

We would plead with all parents and children not to enter or leave the school at any time through either school car park. We had a number of close calls last week involving children and reversing cars. Parents are asked not to park in staff car parks.

Parents who need to accompany their children into the school grounds can do so but must stay at the front of the school and maintain social distancing. We would encourage older children to walk, cycle or scoot to school. Children should bring a light rain jacket to school every day as we will make every effort to go out at breaks regardless of weather conditions.

All school fee payments must be paid in an envelope with the child’s name written on the outside and an indication of what the fees are covering also written on the outside of the envelope. Receipts will be issued for all payments. Payment can also be made online at the following BIC and IBAN. Please reference your child’s name if you are paying by this method.
