Newsletter September 14

Newsletter Monday September 14

  • Many thanks to all who returned the contact forms with their email addresses and mobile phone numbers so that we can update their details on our database. There are still some outstanding and we will make efforts to contact those families this week.
  • Our sincere gratitude to parent, Elaine Kelly, who has raised €2,200 for Solas. This is a fantastic achievement and our thanks also to Vodafone who employ Elaine and whose community fund tops up her efforts. Elaine participated in Run a Muck back in February.
  • If any families require Seesaw codes please drop a note to the class teacher. We will not be issuing written homework for the coming weeks to any class. Teachers might use Seesaw some days just so that children and parents are familiar with the platform.
  • Mary Byrne will resume Irish Dancing classes each week starting this Tuesday September 15 at 2:45 in the hall but from next week they will be held on Wednesdays. Anyone interested should contact Mary on 0851981834.
  • Many thanks to all parents for your co-operation with the systems put in place for children coming to and going from school. Everything has worked out very well and the children have settled very well into school life and Covid preventative procedures. If parents have any queries or need to contact the school please send an email to or phone Brigid on 045401495 or call to the front door and ring the door bell. All visitors must sign our contact tracing log located just inside the front door.
  • Our thanks to Linda Gill Ryan who visited the school last week and who will update our Health and Safety policy especially with Covid prevention in mind. She has looked at what we have put in place and will advise us should further measures be required.
  • Deirdre Browne has commenced Speech and Drama lessons with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and Solas classes and will continue with these until late January. We ask that payment for these lessons be made now.
  • The Board of Management will meet on Tuesday September 29. One of the items on the agenda will be the approval of a new Deputy Principal for the school with interviews taking place in the coming weeks.
  • GAA coach , Cormac, is here every Thursday and will coach 1st, 2nd , 3rd and 4th
  • 5th and 6th class commence basketball coaching this week. We will use the Imaal Hall anyday that the weather is unsuitable for outdoor coaching.
